Due to increased demand for bandwidth on our network we have had to look at other backhaul options from the AF5x. Early December 2016 we could only get our hands on the B11 so we went with that only to be disappointed with the capacity it provided. Once we could get our hands on the AF11 it was then a matter of which dish. Because the smaller Jirous dishes below 1200mm don't meet the F/B requirements here we were unable to use Jirous. We were forced to look at other options and in the end our supplier brought in some ultra high performance Chinese dishes. These are extremely good quality and took some aligning. They also came with the wave guide to N connector adapters! Very nice piece of kit overall.

To get the AF11 on the back of the dishes we made up some adapter plates out of 6mm aluminum plate. Thankfully the dish's have a perfect ring of bolt holes we could bolt it up to.

Link is rock solid has been up 9 days passing production traffic with zero issues.

Prior to bolting the radios up, we had to work out which coax pigtails we were going to use. With the confusion with what coax is best to work at 11ghz I posted on the UBNT forum about it. A big shout out to UBNT-Alex as he come to the party and shipped us some UBNT ones so we could get this link up! Simply amazing as it eliminated the headache of wondering what coax might work and what might fail.

Part of the upgrade was also upgrading the main feed to this tower to an AF24. This master end of the AF11 link is using an 600mm dish, and the remote end is using an 900mm dish. Master end first.

This AF11 is replacing the AF5 which the AF5 will be taken down in the coming weeks.

Over to the slave end.

We are very happy with how this AF11 link went together and will be using a lot more of these where we need to get backhauls off 5Ghz. In New Zealand we can only licence 40mhz FDD how ever this is certainly a major upgrade and leaves the B11 in the weeds. This is the initial screen capture, I haven't played with any of the tx power or things to see if I can increase capacity yet but its pretty close to expected as is.
